We use there is / there are to say that something exists or doesn't exist. Affirmative Form: There is + singular noun e.g. There is a car in front of the bank. There are + plural noun e.g. There are cars in front of the bank. There is + uncountable noun e.g. There is some sugar in the kitchen. Negative Form: There isn’t + singular noun e.g. There isn’t a car in front of the bank. There aren’t + plural noun e.g. There aren’t cars in front of the bank. There isn’t + uncountable noun e.g. There isn’t any sugar in the kitchen.
